By showing up completely, we weave our team stronger.

My personal mission is to weave together the fabric of a stronger community.

My core values show up in my work every single day.

My partners make me better.

Team coaching is best done in partnership, and I have partners that complement what I alone can bring, offer more diversity to my coaching, and hold shared values.

About me

I spent the first decade of my professional career in telecommunications software development and decided that making good phone bills wasn’t enough for me. From telecom, I became a program evaluator. I fell into coaching while on maternity leave. Once I saw the impact of coaching tools, I was hooked!

Though I originally hail from Texas, I’ve lived across the country and traveled across the globe. I’ve called California home now for over twenty years, and live in a 1914 craftsman in Oakland with my spouse and kiddo.

I’ll offer you a smattering of the trainings that I’ve done, but ultimately my greatest skill is showing up for teams and giving them the space to create and explore.

I was one of the first people worldwide to receive the Advanced Certification in Team Coaching (ACTC) from the International Coach Federation (ICF).

Here are a few fun facts about me:

  • One of my favorite annual events is the annual Halloween marionette show Driveway Follies, for which I created a nonprofit to ensure the show's longevity.

  • Our property has over ten different types of fruit trees, which I harvest and can into various types of jam and share with friends and family. I also love to host dinner parties any chance I get.

  • I’ve done triathlons for over 17 years, including three half Ironman events. I recently became a USAT Triathlon Level 1 Coach.

  • I’m a big fan of black coffee (simple, what can I say!)

  • I once jumped off a perfectly good boat at Alcatraz Island in the San Francisco bay to swim over two miles back to shore- a feat I attempted and failed fifteen years prior.

  • I’m a proud dog mom to adopted two mutts, in addition to my elementary school-aged kiddo. And wife to one great guy.

What is B3?

When I was a kid, my alliterative name (Betsy Baum) led to all sorts of nicknames.  As a bit of a math geek, my friends took to calling me B-squared. I couldn’t imagine changing my name until I met my partner and felt I could power up to B-cubed (Betsy Baum Block).

When framing the business around my initials, I always knew I would speak to BE-ing as much as DO-ing. The intention with B3 is to think about the things you can BE.

  • BELIEVE.  No lip service, no phoning it in, you have to believe in yourself and your team and drop the bullshit.  Believe in others around you, and build the trust and transparency needed to support the belief.

  • BECOME.  You are always emerging, becoming the next amazing iteration of yourself.

  • BUILD.  When you build a solid foundation, you create possibilities for incredible breakthroughs for your team.
